Where The Vampire Diaries was filmed
The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies were filmed in Covington, Georgia, about 35 miles east of Atlanta, with additional scenes shot in neighboring Conyers. Mystic Falls is Covington’s real courthouse square: the clock tower, the Mystic Grill, the Visitors Center, and the Pace Street mural are all within a few blocks of each other, and the houses used for Elena, Caroline, Matt, and the Lockwoods are a short drive from the square. It is a walkable town you can see properly in one day.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Conyers — Conyers is about 20 minutes from Covington (the real Mystic Falls), and is itself a filming location: the Olde Town Conyers French Quarter is where several scenes were shot. Stay one night; spend the day exploring.
